Dynamics is the general term for the potentiality of exerting some kind of influence (action) on oneself&sbquo others&sbquo or things. What is significant here is that the word dose not represent the "force" that exerts influence but the "potentiality" to do so. Historically&sbquo the concept was originally formulated in ancient Greek philosophy by Empedocles as "the principle of dominance in the mixing of substances&sbquo" followed by "the attractive force between different substances" by Plato and "the attractive force between similar substances" by Aristotle. The same concept is also seen in ancient China&sbquo in its alchemic literature&sbquo as the affinity between substances. This concept was passed down form the philosophy of Hermes to Newton's laws&sbquo and has been used to mean action and potentiality in analogical thinking in modern physics and society. It is now possible to use the word as a basic term to represent the concept of employing a system dynamically. For example&sbquo system refers to potentialities and the consequences that are already systematized. If&sbquo however the word is changed to the comprehensive expression "dynamics&sbquo" it can refer to a dynamic system that is subject to possible alteration or transformation through time&sbquo allowing one to conceptualize or hypothesize mutual influence (action). For example&sbquo a "color system" is a group of colors coordinated and determined by a certain concept. If we call it "color dynamics&sbquo" even if it is a color scheme already systematized&sbquo it becomes a more flexible dynamic system and allows for a more interactive employment of colors. The words "design dynamics" suggest that the design system in today's information society is always fluid and dynamic. I expect these will become conceptual terms in a design method and will clearly represent not only the potentiality and influence of design but also an interactive attractive and repulsive force in its relationship with the time society.
