Texture

Tex&sbquo an abbreviated form of texture&sbquo derived from a Latin word textus(textile)&sbquo is also a unit to express the thickness of thread. Since measuring the diameter of thread is almost impossible it represents the weight of l000m of the thread. A noun suffixure that indicates movement&sbquo process or existence is combined with tex to form texture. Texture means fabric as a result of how it is woven. Deriving from this meaning of fabric&sbquo it came to refer to the feel and tactile sensation of natural objects such as trees and rocks. The meaning was then further extended to include organizations and structures that compose the superficial feel of such objects&sbquo and even the abstract material feel of the surface. With the material feet the tactile impression is first induced by visual impressions and then the object is reconfirmed tactually to sublimate the meaning of texture(material feel) from physical sensation to awareness. It is&sbquo however&sbquo difficult to share this sensation with others&sbquo with just the word texture. Certain factors such as experiences and the reflection of tight establish this sensation. These factors create an image of the material itself&sbquo and this image is thought to awaken conceptual awareness. How to establish or decide texture in design goes beyond the mere selection of the material feel of the exterior packaging and defines the presence and degree of impact of the object of design. In other words&sbquo the design of exterior packaging and appearance should transmit some kind of meaning. One of the objectives of design for the future is to deepen the awareness of texture as material feel and select textures that induce tactual sensation or create new textures.
